Exercising with pets is a great way to motivate people to get into shape, since their dogs make such eager and energetic exercise partners. It is much harder to decide to skip a 15 minute morning jog when Fido is standing in front of you with his tail wagging and his leash clutched in his mouth!

People who take their dogs for a brisk morning walk or a quick jog around the block instead of going out to exercise alone in the early morning or late evening hours also tend to feel safer, especially if their pet is a medium or large dog breed with a very loud bark.
