March 12, 2010, Newsletter Issue #59: Small Pet Potty Training

Tip of the Week

You potty trained your dog and your cat, but you can't possibly potty train your small pet, right? Actually, you can do small pet potty training. Rabbits, hamsters and other small animals learn to use a litter box fairly easily.

Watch to see which corner of its cage the pet seems to prefer to use as a toilet. Place a litter box in that area. Put a bit of dirty litter in the box so the pet realizes what the box is for. Be patient and wait for the pet to realize that the litter box is supposed to be its new toilet area.
