May 1, 2009, Newsletter Issue #15: Fun Pet Facts for Science Lovers

Tip of the Week

If your kids enjoy learning about science and love their pets, why not combine the two interests by sharing fun pet facts with them? There are interesting science related pet facts about all types of pets, including dogs.

One great fact to share with your kids is the reason that dogs pant. While we sweat when we are hot, dogs do not have the same ability. Instead, they pant to help cool down their bodies.

Another fun fact your kids might enjoy learning is that dogs can see colors, but they are partially colorblind. This means you don't have to worry about whether Fido likes his red collar as much as the green one. He won't be able to see the difference.
