June 26, 2009, Newsletter Issue #23: About Raw Diets for Pets

Tip of the Week

You keep hearing about raw diets for pets. What exactly is a raw diet and is it right for your pet? When you research raw diets, you will discover that they literally are raw. Raw food diets for dogs include beef, fish, chicken, bones and vegetables.

If you are really short on time, raw diets may not be right for you. These diets require more time and effort to prepare and serve than traditional kibble diets. When an owner serves his or her dogs traditional kibble, he or she simply scoops out the required amount, pours it into a bowl and gives the bowl to the dog. When serving a raw diet, he or she has to measure out specific amounts of several foods to give to the dog.
