You're concerned about your pet's well being. Is there anything pet owners can do to help lower the risk of cancer in household pets? Actually, there is one really easy thing you can do that will really help lower the risk of cancer in a female dog. Neuter your pet.
Spaying female dogs has been found to help prevent cancer in their reproductive organs and mammary glands. Ideally, you should neuter your pet at six months of age, but older pets can also have the chance of mammary tumors or uterine cancer reduced if you have them neutered.
In fact, many vets treat uterine cancer in its beginning stages by simply spaying the dog, which removes the cancer.
