May 21, 2010, Newsletter Issue #69: International Pet Travel

Tip of the Week

You're traveling overseas for an extended stay and you don't want to leave your beloved pet behind. Do you need to do anything special for international pet travel or can you just get a health certificate, put your pet in a carrier and head out the door to the airport?

There is one big difference between traveling locally and traveling overseas. Many countries will require that your pet spend time in quarantine before you can bring it into the country to live. You may also need to re-quarantine your pet when you arrive back in your own country after your trip. Of course, even if the country you are traveling to does not require your pet to be quarantined, it will still require proof of immunization.
