You wouldn't dream of bringing an infant home without thoroughly baby proofing the house. Now, you're wondering if you should be concerned about pet proofing your home in preparation for your new pet. Are there home hazards for pets that you should be aware of? There are many home hazards to be concerned about, especially if your new pet is a curious baby animal, like a puppy or a kitten. A few things that you should be sure to remove from any areas your new pet has access to include Cleaning products. A puppy's sharp teeth could easily puncture a bottle. Medications. Sharp objects. String, twine or yarn. More than one kitten or puppy has had to receive emergency surgery after swallowing these items.
