January 29, 2010, Newsletter Issue #54: Plants That Are Poisonous to Pets

Tip of the Week

You have a green thumb, but you don't want that thumb to end up being fatal for your beloved four legged friend. You need to have a list of plants that are poisonous to pets so that you can remove any of the potentially toxic ones from your home.

While there are many lists available, they may not be complete. The best option is to call your local poison control center, veterinarian, or Master Gardener hot line with a list of plants in your home to make sure that they are safe for your pet.

A few plants to avoid include calla lilies, mistletoe and caladiums.
