April 9, 2010, Newsletter Issue #63: Dog Toy Safety Tips

Tip of the Week

You bought toys that were designed just for dogs from your local pet store, so you don't have to worry about dog toy safety, right? Actually, not all dog toys are safe, especially after they begin to show signs of wear. To be sure a dog toy is safe, you should:

Make sure the toy matches the size of your dog. Don't give a toy meant for a Yorkie to a St. Bernard. Be sure the toy doesn't have any small parts that might come loose, such as button eyes. Check the toy daily for signs of wear, such as holes with stuffing coming out of them.
